FOR UNCLE ANCEL

Facing the challenge
of wind in his face,
he soars among us
with outstretched wings.
Clouds swirling
like gauzy curtains
as he dances in air
saturated with prayers and dreams.
Gracefully bowing
at the edge
of a vanishing winter cloud,
in reverence of spring
rising with the morning mist.
Skimming celestial horizons,
bathed in the coppery sun,
he majestically ascends
above the clouds
while his spirit lingers.
A symbol of full-fledged strength
never yielding to the storm,
an angel homeward-bound.
